new materialisms, 2022
With the commencement of my Masters program, my practice entered a phase of intensive material experimentation, which is ongoing. Informed by theory around New Materialism, Phenomenology and a Post-Minimalist sensibility, I'm investigating the possibilities for generating multi-faceted meaning from an amplified aesthetic register. Combining disparate materials in new ways, I'm seeking instability and uncertain outcomes, while at the same time making playful references to both high and low art. The natural is entangled with the artificial, the cultural, the excessive and the blinding. One is being consumed, contaminated or concealed by the other.
